Over the course of eight weeks, we will take a deep dive into the teaching of literacy—where we’ve been, where we are now, and where we want to go. Together, we’ll reflect on how literacy instruction has evolved, explore the essential elements of effective practice, and examine different approaches in depth.
Program Overview
Weeks 1–2: We’ll start by reviewing the evolution of literacy instruction, reflecting on how we got here, and identifying what’s most important in our practice—our non-negotiables, negotiables, and how to fit it all in.
Weeks 3–6: We’ll unpack key approaches to literacy instruction: the Science of Reading and Balanced Literacy, phonics, Guided Reading, and the workshop model. For each, we’ll explore what it is, why it matters, how to teach it, and how to plan for it in the classroom.
Week 7: We’ll bring everything together, thinking intentionally about how to integrate these components into a cohesive, effective literacy plan.
Week 8: We’ll close with a celebration of learning—showcasing growth, sharing takeaways, and reflecting on next steps as a community of learners.
By the end of this journey, participants will have a stronger understanding of literacy instruction, practical tools for planning and teaching, and the confidence to create a balanced and purposeful approach in their classrooms.
Our programs offer a dynamic blend of interactive activities, creative exercises, and educational games that make learning exciting and enjoyable.
