move away from just using textbooks to using other methods where students learn to think and understand rather than complete and comply
In this hands-on workshop, we’ll explore the workshop model as a powerful structure for teaching and learning. Participants will unpack the core components—mini-lesson, independent work time, conferencing, and share—and see how this approach fosters differentiation, student choice, and deeper engagement. Together, we’ll look at examples of the workshop model in action across different subjects and begin drafting lesson ideas that can be applied right away.
By the end of the session, participants will leave with:
A clear understanding of the workshop approach,
practical strategies for implementation, and the
confidence to create a more student-centered environment and
effective classroom routines.
In this interactive workshop, we’ll explore how active methodologies can transform learning by shifting the focus from teacher-centered instruction to student-centered engagement. Participants will be introduced to a range of practical strategies—such as stations, choice boards, and jigsaw activities—that foster agency, accountability, and deeper understanding. Together, we’ll discuss why this shift matters, examine examples of active methodologies in action, and design simple plans for immediate classroom use. By the end of the session, participants will leave with concrete strategies, ready-to-use ideas, and the confidence to begin making their classrooms more engaging, participatory, and learner-driven.
Ao final da sessão, os participantes sairão com estratégias concretas, ideias prontas para uso e a confiança para tornar suas salas de aula mais envolventes, participativas e centradas no aluno.
